(Video) Syracuse University shows up for refugee rally

This is what democracy looks like.

It’s been a week since President Donald Trump signed an executive order to bar people from “terror-prone” countries from entering the U.S. Targeted are Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The executive order has been labeled a Muslim ban and looking at Trump’s history of islamophobia, this characterization checks out.

Following up on an initial protest at Syracuse Hancock International Airport, community members, students and faculty gathered at Syracuse University’s Crouse Hinds Hall to rally around refugees.

The demonstration, a collaboration between SU chapter of OxFam, Democracy Matters, College Democrats, Amnesty International and the Muslim Student Association, led protesters up SU’s promenade and ended with a sit-in at Life Sciences.
